I bought some of the Mobil, too. Never used it before so I'm anxious to try it. I'm especially curious about this smell that everyone talks about. Does anyone think 50:1 is too lean for a DF or F series? I was going to use 40:1, but may just go ahead and stick with the 32:1 for the boys since guys using claim how clean and smoke free it runs on that ratio. Not that far off in oil quantity anyway from 32 to 40:1. I think the Duraforce may live longer than the F on 50, but I don't even run my new stuff on that ratio. I think it too light for higher revving engines in the middle of summer. My snowmobiles were the only engines that injested 50:1. I personally won't mix ANY oil syn or dino for ANY 2 stroke of ANY vintage on less than a 40:1. Seems to be a good all around choice that will protect most engines regardless of internals/quality. I feel totally at ease of using high quality oils like Torco and Mobil mixed at 40:1 though. I won't use anything else. I even help supply smaller amounts to family members who need a small batch. I say any other oil needs to be mixed specifically to the ratio the engine manu calls for. __________________ echoman View Public Profile Send a private message to echoman Find More Posts by echoman 04-17-2008, 10:44 AM #18 echoman 2 stroke enthusiast Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Westville, IN Posts: 1,349 MTF Member # 6344 Re: Found some 2S oil....... Does anyone know, or has anyone used 2T as injection oil as well? It's seems similar in viscosity to the GP-7, and it can run in injection systems above 35 degrees F. May need to run this stuff the M series as well. __________________ echoman View Public Profile Send a private message to echoman Find More Posts by echoman 04-17-2008, 01:04 PM #19 echoman 2 stroke enthusiast Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Westville, IN Posts: 1,349 MTF Member # 6344 Re: Found some 2S oil....... Echoman, The mobil oil is the only oil that I have used that will allow the engine to idle at a higher RPM and wrap up faster with just the change in oil. You can try this yourself on any engine without a govenor. I have not experianced anything like it. __________________ "As time goes by, you'll know why" mtgrs737 View Public Profile Send a private message to mtgrs737 Find More Posts by mtgrs737 04-17-2008, 05:51 PM #21 echoman 2 stroke enthusiast Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Westville, IN Posts: 1,349 MTF Member # 6344 Re: Found some 2S oil....... Will be mixing some within the next week for the first grass mow of the season. Might even do it this Saturday. __________________ echoman View Public Profile Send a private message to echoman Find More Posts by echoman 04-17-2008, 06:01 PM #22 Brad Senior MTF Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Ladd, IL Posts: 581 MTF Member # 4571 Re: Found some 2S oil....... I went out and mowed a bit today. Just a little in the front yard. Didn't "need" it, but it looks good with some tire tracks and that fresh cut grass smell was great. Took the duraforce out and ran as smooth as ever with that Mobil 1 synthetic, new Gatorblade cut ever so good. I didn't even have to give it full throttle. Just felt good to be out there, soaking up some sun. Linda had taken the plants out onto the screen porch, the kitties were out there "getting sniffs". Yesterday I planted some things I had gotten at the beginning of the week. Really starting to feel like spring has arrived! __________________ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thanks for letting me hang around a bit. Sure am having a good time. Guy said more was coming on the next truck. I'll try to mix some up this weekend also and see what all the fuss is about. Echoman - have you decided what ratio you're going with yet? I'm leaning towards 40:1 and try it in all my two-strokes. My weedeater is an old POS Homelite about 10 yrs. old so, if it does not like this mix I might have a good excuse for that new Stihl been looking at! __________________ I may have to grow older, but I refuse to grow up!! I think I'll try 32:1 like the others here have been using. I thought it would be overkill for these kinds of engines, but they all claim otherwise. I was going for 1 batch for all equipment of 40, but I'll try out the LB's first at the 32:1. I'm in no way an "oil conservative" type guy. I want whats absolutely best for my "boys"! __________________ echoman View Public Profile Send a private message to echoman Find More Posts by echoman 04-17-2008, 09:34 PM #25 ky-mark 2-stroke exhaust junkie!! As much as I'd like one mix for all, my LB's are just not expendable. My old homelite weedeater on the other hand....... Just hafta experiment a little. __________________ I may have to grow older, but I refuse to grow up!! I have used it for the last few years in my M-series injection system with no problems that I can tell. I really don't see a reason that it would be any different than LB oil or any other 2 cycle oil in the injection setup. I guess the manufacturer should know better than me, but I'm going to continue to use it in my M-series. adkinsca View Public Profile Send a private message to adkinsca Find More Posts by adkinsca 04-18-2008, 10:51 AM #28 echoman 2 stroke enthusiast Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Westville, IN Posts: 1,349 MTF Member # 6344 Re: Found some 2S oil....... I noticed it is a bit thicker than the Torco T2R which is a semi syn injector/premix oil. I've been using that in my M, then I was going to switch to the GP-7 exclusively which Torco claims can be used in injector systems above 35 degrees fahrenheit. The GP-7 is thicker much like the Mobile 2T is. I'm sure it will be fine in warmer temps, but when I asked Mobil's tech dept about this and mix ratios, they were very vague in giving answers. I think now that it's discontinued, they want no responsiblity for misuse in any capacity from the stock still in circulation to the general public. I plan on running my M more on a 50:1 ratio-letting the injection system do it's thing @ 64:1, then mix .5 oz of oil per gallon. I figured I have 2 oz per gallon average with the system, then by adding about .5-.6 oz of oil to each gallon, will give a bit more protection @ a 50:1 over the stock 64:1 which does seem a bit light, even though LB designed this engine to run on this ratio. A bit more can't hurt. __________________ echoman View Public Profile Send a private message to echoman Find More Posts by echoman 04-18-2008, 01:15 PM #29 mtgrs737 LAWN-BOY-AHOLIC Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Hesston, Kansas Posts: 580 MTF Member # 2349 Re: Found some 2S oil....... I don't know of anyone ever hurting an engine from using a richer oil ratio than called for but I have seen the results of not using enough oil. I have two running Lawn-Boy "M" mowers, both of which have Mobil One in the tanks. Those tanks don't look like they will hold a full quart but that is what it takes to completly re-fill them. I don't know if it is a good idea to mix oils so I drain the tanks before filling them with the new oil and that requires a premix in the gas tank for 15 to 20 minutes running time just in case you get an air bubble in the system. Have any of you tried candle scent in your fuel for a different smell while mowing? I like Vanilla. __________________ "As time goes by, you'll know why" mtgrs737 View Public Profile Send a private message to mtgrs737 Find More Posts by mtgrs737 04-18-2008, 01:29 PM #30 echoman 2 stroke enthusiast Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Westville, IN Posts: 1,349 MTF Member # 6344 Re: Found some 2S oil....... It must work then in injector systems since you guys have been doing it. It is something what those oil tanks hold. What do you mean about mixing oils? You mean when you first got it or each time you add more 2T? Some oils don't blend well, so it's always a good idea to drain and refill like you said. I only know of scents to add to RC nitro fuel. __________________ echoman View Public Profile Send a private message to echoman Find More Posts by echoman Page 2 of 3 < 1 2 3 > « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Email this Page Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts vB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is Off All times are GMT -4.
